I believe that we should expose our children to a varied vocabulary. This month we introduced many new words with our themes. Ask your children about the words and see if they can use them in a sentence. Chlorophyll Autumn Fleece Shearing Sheep Extinct Fossils Paleontologist (Dinosaur names) Orchard Harvest Dormant Nursery rhymes help children develop reading skills. We learned Mary Had A Little Lamb this month. Have them sing the song as they wash their hands, put on their shoes, or make their bed. Substitute their own name for Mary's and the add something silly for them. Like... Bobby had a little book, little book, little book. Booby had a little book, he liked to read it so. Sammy had a lego dude... Katie had a baby doll... The rhythm and the rhyme is important, the content can be ridiculous...your kids will love to hear you sing silly songs about them! Thank you, Miss Sherry

Today we talked about manners in school. We read a story about a monster that came to school and behaved, well...like a monster! The kids decided which monster manners they wanted to stay in their school. Then we practiced setting the table and using our manners during snack time. Over the long weekend, you can have your children help to set the table. You can use a picture like the one below to help. image credit http://imom.com/tools/get-organized/everyday-table-place-setting/ Here is the song we learned to help reinforce manner words. Please & Thank You Sung to the tune of " Frère Jacques" Please and thank you, Please and thank you, You're welcome. You're welcome. I can use my manners, I can use my manners, Everyday. Everyday. Remember NO PRESCHOOL MONDAY. Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend and we'll see everyone Tuesday. Thanks, Miss Sherry
